Why does membership cost so much?
The Chamber is a non-profit organization, and 98% of your dues are tax deductible. The remaining 2% goes towards lobbying efforts. The minimum dues are $425, which is approximately $1.16 a day! Your tax deductible contribution helps make the Greater Richmond area a better place to live, work, and play.
Start getting involved. You will only get out of your Chamber membership what you put in to it. Attend events, join your jurisdiction's Business Council, advertise through Chamber publications, and volunteer. Contact a Chamber Ambassador to help get you acclimated to the Chamber or ask your Chamber membership department for a one on one consultation to figure our where your time and resources are best spent.
Why is it important that I join?
The Chamber is the voice of business, the creative leader and bold catalyst for the Greater Richmond region. We are the one organization that brings together area businesses interested in enhancing the quality of life and growing business in the Greater Richmond region. We have a product to promote as a community, and that is Richmond. With the support of the complete business community, Richmond's economy will be strengthened and business will flourish. For instance, did you know that the Chamber is behind the groups who brought Philip Morris to Richmond and worked to get the expansion of Route 288. (etc, etc.) Also, you're competitors may already be members, and reaping the rewards of the networking opportunities the Chamber offers.
Are mailing lists of members available to purchase?
The Chamber has a research analyst on staff, well versed in compiling data and statistical information pertaining to the entire Richmond area. A list of our complete membership is sold, as well as any customized list you may require.
Start by attending Meet the Chamber. This is a "Chamber 101" of sorts, designed to show you how to get the most out of your investment with the Chamber. Fellow Chamber members will explain how they got involved and help answer your questions. Other than that, attend events, attend events, attend events!
How do I get business from other chamber members?
Your return on investment is not overnight. You must put the time into getting to know your fellow Chamber members by attending as many events
as possible. The same people you see, for instance, at the Chamber business council meetings, may not need your services at the moment, but if you
build a relationship with them, you will be at the top of their list when your company's services are needed.
Also, just being listed in our membership directory will give you business. When consumers are looking for a valuable opinion on where to find services,
many times the first place they think to call is the Chamber. We ONLY refer our members to the general public or anyone who calls the Chamber
with referral requests. Our online membership directory is often the first place out of town people look to find services in the Richmond area.
Are all of my employees members too?
Yes, when a company joins the Chamber, all employees at that location are entitled to GRCC membership benefits.
When will I be billed again for membership?
The Chamber has four billing cycles for membership. If you join the Chamber between February and April, your renewal will be due in April. If you join the Chamber between May and July, your renewal will be due in July. If you join between August and October, your renewal will be due in October. If you join between November and January, your renewal will be due in January.
