Richmond, A Nice Place To Call Home

Residents, business leaders and visitors to the Easy to Love region called Richmond, find history, culture, opportunity and an exceptional quality of life. There is a wonderful and distinctive mix of cultural sophistication and Southern charm in the region. Visitors and residents find the traditions of history and culture as well as unique dining, modern shopping malls, and entertainment can be found in every corner. Historic homes and neighborhoods, gardens and nature centers, science and art museums, Civil War and Revolutionary War sites, sports teams and the James River offer countless activities in which to learn and experience.

Richmond is full of historic sights to enjoy. Founded in 1607 nearly 400 years ago by Captains Christopher Newport and John Smith, Richmond was named by William Byrd II and chartered as a town in 1742. It is also where Patrick Henry delivered his "…give me liberty or give me death…" speech at St. John’s Church in 1775 inspiring revolutionists to fight for freedom. For those who enjoy the history and battlefield tactics of the Civil War, Richmond, the Capital of the Confederacy, has sights to see including the National Park Service’s Civil War Visitor Center at Tredegar Iron Works and the Museum of the Confederacy.

The significant growth in the region, the influx of new business, shopping, restaurants, the renovations and road expansions all indicate that more and more people have discovered that the Richmond Region is indeed, Easy to Love.

Richmond continues to be recognized as the preferred place to live and new schools and renovations are underway to keep up with the growth.
