In spring 2012, Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell challenged chambers of commerce across the Commonwealth to compete in a drive to benefit their local food banks. The Greater Richmond Chamber accepted the challenge and invited its members to join in this effort to feed hungry residents of Central Virginia.
Since 2006, Virginia food banks have seen a 54 percent increase in demand yet have experienced a 50 percent drop in food donations. Summer months are particularly tough for food banks to keep their shelves stocked.
No region is immune to hunger. Learn about the needs in these four jurisdictions and what FeedMore is doing to address them. Your donations will benefit your communities.
We won in 2012!
Thanks to the generosity of our members, the Greater Richmond Chamber was one of the winners of the 2012 Governor's Bowl Food and Fund Drive challenge.
Collectively, Greater Richmond Chamber members donated 62,231 pounds of food to benefit the Central Virginia Food Bank/FeedMore. Great job, members!
