There's lots of excitement around Richmond's start-up community. One company in particular got the attention of Tumblr when it built the first mobile application for the popular blogging site. Founded in 2008, Mobelux is one of RVA's small starts-ups that's doing big things. This event will be a behind the scenes look at Mobelux and how they are changing the mobile user experience and interface design. Garrett Ross, Co-founder/CEO of Mobelux, will share their start-up story, discuss current projects and show how they are building educational programming related to technology.

LUNCH Break: Sustaining a Healthy Food Culture

August 27, 2014, 11:45 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
FeedMore
1415 Rhoadmiller Street
MAP

Did you eat your Wheaties for breakfast today...maybe a Sugar Shack donut instead....maybe nothing at all? Countless factors, some often invisible, guide the way we all eat. In the end, no matter who we are, our food choices are partly in our control and partly out of our control. In Richmond a wide "healthy food gap" has emerged...on kitchen tables, in lunch lines and at food pantries across the city. What does it take for everyone to access, choose and use good food -- food that’s good for our bodies, good for our environment and good for our communities? Shalom Farms, a regional food access and community development project, is working to provide a solution to this question by prescribing fruits and veggies, teaching kids to run farm stands and growing quality, sustainable produce. Dominic Barrett, Executive Director of Shalom Farms, will explore the way his organization partners with FeedMore and others to close the healthy food gap.
