:: FINANCIAL REGULATORY REFORM UPDATE

 

Today for the third day in a row, Senate Democratic leaders failed to muster the 60 votes required to bring the Senate Financial Regulatory Reform bill to the floor of the Senate, instead garnering only 56 votes in favor of moving the bill to debate. In Senate procedure, voting to bring the bill to the floor is the first in a series of procedural votes that must occur for the bill to become law, and it is customary for lawmakers to vote “no” on controversial legislation in order to force negotiations on amendments they would like to offer. > read more
